Leadership Team

The Thiess Services executive management team is responsible for developing and leading the future direction of Thiess Services.

Executive General Manager - Michael Wright
Michael has more than 16 years experience in engineering, project management and management in civil construction, contaminated site remediation, telecommunications, mining and environmental projects.
Michael's commitment to improving performance by focusing on client requirements and developing core strengths has been critical to the success of the projects, joint ventures and organisations that he has managed.
Michael previously held the role of General Manager / President - China Mongolia with Leighton Asia, where he was responsible for starting and establishing the organisation.

General Manager Remediation, Infrastructure and Strategy & Development - Doug Moss
As General Manager Remediation, Strategy & Development, Doug is responsible for managing Thiess Services’ position as the market leader in Australian land remediation projects and for driving the company’s strategy, project development, major projects and business improvement.
Doug has been employed by Thiess since 1993 and has been involved with an extensive portfolio of remediation, waste management, and infrastructure maintenance projects.
Before joining Thiess Services, Doug worked for Coffey Partners International.

General Manager Waste Management- Peter King
Peter has more than 20 years experience managing all facets of operations encompassing waste management, utilities management, design, construct and service contracts, human resources, industrial relations and contract mobilisation.
With a consistent and proven record of maintaining and delivering long-term contracts in the area of operations management, Peter has achieved outstanding results by working closely with clients and internal management to achieve common goals on long-term contracts.
As General Manager Waste Management, Peter is responsible for all facets of Thiess Services’ waste management operations and contracts throughout Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT, the Northern Territory and New Zealand, including the Brisbane City Council Waste Alliance, Swanbank Waste Management Facility and Thiess Services' own haulage, transfer station and materials recycling operations.
Before joining Thiess Services, Peter was State Manager for Browning Ferris Industries.

General Manager Utilities - Bob Brownlee
Bob has extensive experience in managing contracts in the utilities, waste management and remediation industries.
As General Manager Utilities, Bob is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Thiess Services’ operations in the electrical, water and gas utilities sectors in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand.
Major contracts under his control include the Company’s involvement in the ‘us’-  Utility Services Alliance for operations and maintenance services for South East Water in Melbourne, operations and maintenance services for Melbourne Water and the Ergon Central and Far North Queensland and Energex South East Queensland electrical maintenance contracts . Bob's experience and in-depth understanding of the needs of our clients and stakeholders enabled Thiess Services to develop alliance contract models with three leading utilities companies, as well as a number of long-term operation and maintenance contracts.
Before joining Thiess Services, Bob worked for Browning Ferris Industries (Australia), as State Manager, VIC/SA.


General Manager Finance & Commercial - David Goodman

Equipped with strong analytical and decision making skills, David is a Finance Director with commercial bias and broad international business experience.
David is an MBA, member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers & Chartered Institute of Bankers and has more than 14 years experience managing the financial direction of organisations and has experience in major project and Public Private Partnership finance, statutory and management reporting, treasury and procurement in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
He has strong leadership, with proven skills in team optimisation and development across geographically diverse environments.
Before joining Thiess Services, David was Finance Director and Company Secretary of major international construction, engineering and services company Laing O’Rourke/Barclay Mowlem for eight years. During his tenure he gained extensive experience working across the Asia Pacific region and was responsible for management of the executive board and was a director of joint venture services company MowlemSodexho.
Manager People & Development - Chris Newitt

Chris has more than 10 years experience working in Human Resources and employee relations in the construction and services, mining and financial sectors.

Prior to joining Thiess Services, Chris was the Human Resources Support Services Manager for the Thiess Queensland Business Unit and Human Resources Manager for Anglo Coal Australia, Capcoal Surface Operations.


Manager Health, Safety & Environment - Mark Bartlett
Mark has more than 18 years experience working in Health, Safety and Environmental roles in the construction, energy and services sectors, in both corporate and field positions.
Mark's practical expertise includes development and implementation of HSE systems, crisis, emergency and business continuity planning and the facilitation of industry working parties for OHS reform.
Before joining Thiess Services, Mark was the Safety Director for the Thiess John Holland - Eastlink Project and provided strategic direction and assistance to Executive Management on OHS risk obligations during the design and construction of this $2.5 billion project.
Mark has considerable experience with contemporary HSE management systems and working knowledge of various safety and environmental management systems, including AS 4801, ISO 14001, SafetyMAP, NSCA 5 Star and self-insurer models.
In recent years Mark has assisted various organisations to move from a systems-based approach to HSE to an integrated behavioural approach in pursuit of a Total Safety Culture, Zero Harm and Sustainability.
