We currently deliver a range of service solutions to some of Australia’s largest industrial and telecommunications providers, including Telstra and Optus.

Thiess Services involvement in telecommunications began in 1993 when Thiess Services and Siemens established a joint venture to provide mechanical and electrical maintenance services for power industry clients in Victoria. In October 2000 that joint venture became its own entity – Silcar – pursuing telecommunications and network asset (industrial) maintenance work throughout Australia.

Silcar provides a truly independent solution to technology and vendor selection.

Siemens' commitment to research and development, combined with Thiess Services' high level of technical expertise places Silcar and its telecommunications division Silcar Communications at the forefront of the network, design and construction industry.

Silcar’s Network Assets Division is responsible for:

  • Telecommunications network design and construction
  • Telepower (low voltage) asset management including design and construction, operations and maintenance, equipment procurement
  • Telecommunications network maintenance
  • High voltage electrical services
